The devise was developed in conjunction with a offshore drilling contractor. It allows for proof testing of offshore drilling rig handrails utilizing an adjustable hydraulic arm drive by rig air system.

Technical Specification.

• 87 psi produces a horizontal force of 200 lbs.
• Constructed from 2-inch round pipe, schedule 80.
• Weights approximately 50 lbs.

OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.23(e)(5)(iv) stated the following:

Handrails shall be capable of withstanding a load of at least 200 lbs. applied in any direction at any point on the rail.
